Carlos Blackburn

BSc Hons | Member

I qualified as a physiotherapist (BSc Hons) from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2009, doing all my clinical training in NHS hospitals and health centres in and around Glasgow. I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Since qualifying I have worked in private practice with a varied caseload of elderly, neurological and vestibular (balance-impaired due to inner ear) patients, along with acute and chronic musculoskeletal patients. I am rehabilitation-oriented, seeking to include people in their treatment and help return them to their full capabilities by giving them the tools to manage their condition and progress. I aim to find the root cause of the presenting problem and have excellent manual therapy skills to compliment this approach. I also provide acupuncture and taping treatments when appropriate.

I am a native New Yorker, where I got my first degree in anthropology and sociology, and worked as a teacher and athletics coach prior to changing career. Having worked in both manual and desk jobs at various times, and as a former footballer, gymnast and kick boxer, with 28 years experience as a runner, I have experienced many of the work and sports-related injuries I now treat! I particularly enjoy working with older people.

Do I need a referal from my doctor to receive physiotherapy services?

No, you do not need a doctor's referral to access our physiotherapy services at Bath Street Feet.

However, if you are looking to cover the cost of your treatment through insurance, please check with your provider first.

How many sessions of physiotherapy will I need?

The number of physiotherapy sessions required varies depending on the individual and the nature of their condition. During your initial assessment, our physiotherapists will formulate a treatment plan and discuss the expected duration of your therapy sessions.

What should I wear to my physiotherapy appointments?

It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement during your physiotherapy sessions. Loose-fitting attire and appropriate footwear are ideal to ensure that our physiotherapists can assess and treat your condition effectively.

Can you help with chronic pain conditions?

Yes, our physiotherapy services are beneficial for managing chronic pain conditions by addressing underlying causes, improving mobility, and enhancing quality of life. Our physiotherapists will work with you to develop a personalised treatment plan to address your chronic pain effectively.

Are your physiotherapy services suitable for children or teenagers?

Physiotherapy can benefit children and adolescents with various musculoskeletal issues, growth-related concerns, sports injuries, and developmental delays. Our experienced physiotherapists are skilled in providing age-appropriate therapy and rehabilitation techniques for younger patients.
