Carlos Blackburn
BSc Hons | Member
I qualified as a physiotherapist (BSc Hons) from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2009, doing all my clinical training in NHS hospitals and health centres in and around Glasgow. I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Since qualifying I have worked in private practice with a varied caseload of elderly, neurological and vestibular (balance-impaired due to inner ear) patients, along with acute and chronic musculoskeletal patients. I am rehabilitation-oriented, seeking to include people in their treatment and help return them to their full capabilities by giving them the tools to manage their condition and progress. I aim to find the root cause of the presenting problem and have excellent manual therapy skills to compliment this approach. I also provide acupuncture and taping treatments when appropriate.
I am a native New Yorker, where I got my first degree in anthropology and sociology, and worked as a teacher and athletics coach prior to changing career. Having worked in both manual and desk jobs at various times, and as a former footballer, gymnast and kick boxer, with 28 years experience as a runner, I have experienced many of the work and sports-related injuries I now treat! I particularly enjoy working with older people.
